Born in St. John's, Newfoundland in 1955, Vaughn grew up on the island. After high school he studied at twelve colleges and universities in Canada, the USA, and France. Having earned a Master's Degree in Theology at age 22, he served as an assistant minister for a year before beginning his teaching career.
He taught school in Montreal and in various locations in Newfoundland for a total of thirty years before retiring in 2009.
In 2012 he moved to Brampton, Ontario, where he presently lives. He began writing poetry and song lyrics as a hobby over 40 years ago, and now does so professionally.

Recently, I have been commissioned to write the lyrics for the soundtrack of "Two Lives to a Destiny". There will be
a total of eight melodies in which I will create the lyrics while adapting them to the chapter they have been written for.
